The PM has had 179 million interactions in the last two years; his cabinet ministers too have taken a lot to the social media platform

The two years of Modi government seems to have impacted the social media segment too. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the second most liked world leader on social networking platform Facebook after US President Barack Obama.

His cabinet ministers too seem to be busy liking, sharing and commenting on the wildly popular platform. The PM has had 179 million interactions in the last two years, with page size of 33 million.

Facebook has analysed how the government used the platform to reach out to the public during the last year. Ministers across portfolios’s used Facebook during the year to connect with the public in India via Facebook’s various tools like Q&A, Live, Instant Articles and Notes.

The total number of Cabinet Ministers along with ministers with independent charge are 50. The number of cabinet ministers along with ministers with independent charge with verified Facebook presence is 47.

PM Modi though continues to be the most active person on Facebook with 179,452,452 interactions, Minister of Home Affairs Rajnath Singh with 13,904,120 interactions is close second. Human Resource Minister Smriti Irani makes it to the third position with 5,800,102 interactions.

Among the top performing ministries, Ministry of External Affairs tops the list, followed by ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Railways and Women and Child Development.
