Andhra Pradesh chief minister K Rosaiah has directed the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation to take up road repair works at a cost of Rs 30 crore in the state capital.
Speaking to the media after a review meeting on Friday, municipal and urban development minister Anam Ramnarayan Reddy said the chief minister also asked the officials to prepare an action plan for an effective sewerage system besides improving drinking water supply in a mission mode.
The GHMC has infrastructure works worth Rs 5,551 crore sanctioned of which works worth Rs 2,765 crore have been completed. Works worth Rs 1,084 crore have been taken up in peripheral circles to improve infrastructure facilities on a par with the core city.
The Global Environmental Facilities project costing Rs 59.34 crore has been taken up with the assistance of World Bank to improve facilities in 14 MMTS (multi-modal transport system) railway stations.
A detailed project report (DPR) for the improvement of water supply in 12 peripheral municipalities with an outlay of Rs 2,577 crore has been prepared. Also, DPRs for refurbishment of old pipelines in the core area at an estimated cost of Rs 1,250 crore and for comprehensive storm water drainage with an outlay of Rs 6,246 crore have been made, he said.
On the PV Narasimha Rao expressway, Rosaiah asked the officials to complete the work and open it for public on October 2, the deadline set by former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy.
