The Tamil Nadu government will file a review petition before the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal seeking clarifications and removal of some aspects in its final award which are considered "detrimental" to the state's interests.

The decision was taken at an all-party meeting convened by the state government on Monday and presided over by chief minister M Karunanidhi.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the DMK, AIADMK, Congress, PMK, MDMK, CPM, CPI and the Cauvery Delta Farmers Association, among others, according to an official release.

The meeting discussed the positive and negative aspects of the award to Tamil Nadu. The review petition will be filed after consultations with legal experts and engineers, added the release.

The final verdict of the tribunal delivered on February 5 had stated that Tamil Nadu should get 192 tmcft of water from Karnataka.
