Deakin University, Australia, has launched its Deakin India Research Initiative (DIRI) in Hyderabad to strengthen research activities and partnerships in the country.
Deakin, along with Indian institutions, will jointly identify projects and undertake research in advanced materials, metallurgy, biotechnology and nanotechnology. Students would be registered for PhD at Deakin.
DIRI expects to enrol 20 students by end of this year who would do research in India and Australia. DIRI would support collaborative research programmes, which would be supervised by Deakin and the Indian partner.
Biocon and BigTec in Bangalore, Teri in Delhi, Vimta, Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology and the Indian Institute of Chemical Technology in Hyderabad, and Tata Steel in Jamshedpur among others are partners of Deakin.
