Four Punjab cities to get maxi cabs

To provide better transport facilities to the public and reduce vehicle congestion on the roads, the Punjab government has decided to introduce scheme for operation of Motor Cab Radio Taxi (Cool Cab)/ Maxi Cabs in the cities of Amritsar, Jalandhar, Ludhiana and Mohali.

Punjab Transport Minister Master Mohan Lal said applications for grant of contract carriage permits were invited by the state transport commissioner and so far nine companies have shown interest in initiating the services in the state. These companies have been asked to introduce a maximum of 50 radio cabs within six months in each city.
