Guj High Court gets India Tech Excellence Award

Gujarat High Court has won the '8th India Tech Excellence Award' for 2009 instituted by the India Tech Foundation (ITF) for application of information technology in administration as part of e-governance.
"The Gujarat High Court has received the India-Tech Excellence Award for its information and communication initiatitve in the state judiciary system," Registrar of High Court P P Bhatt told reporters here today.
"ITF had invited nomination for most progressive state govenment in three categories that is appliction of IT in administration, power sector reforms and initiatives in development of urban and rural infrastructure," he said.
"We were nominated in the category of application of IT in administration," he added.
Bhatt said that the award would be presented during a ceremony to be held in the month of November.
The High Court has been awarded for steps taken for computerisation of records at state level as well as in district courts, setting up of e-courts, district court websites which would give status of a case, SMS (short messaging service) for getting status of a particular case and other initiatives.
The initiatives also include training of officials with regard to the new software and IT system put in place.
