An official spokesman revealed that the insurance scheme shall cover all persons between 18 and 60 years of all the families in Haryana whose name appears in the voters list or hold ration card issued by the Food and Supply Department, Haryana, except governement employees and income tax-payees as they were already covered under group insurance scheme.
The benefits of the scheme for death, permanent disability caused by accident occurring outside Haryana shall be extended in the scheme.
The spokesman said that compensation of Rs 1 lakh will be provided against death and permanent total disability, Rs 50,000 for the loss of two limbs, two eyes, one limb and one eye and Rs 25,000 for the loss of one eye or one limb.
He said the compensation shall be paid within a period of 72 hours to the nominees(s)/ legal heir(s) in case of death of the insured by the sub-divisional officer (civil) as a nodal officer appointed by the state government.
