| Addressing a press conference, K V Ganapathy, chairman, Intec, said that the region's engineering and foundry units were experiencing modernisation and capacity expansion to the tune of more than Rs 100 crore for the past two years. |

| "Many small scale engineering units and foundries have expressed their interest in setting up their operations in the city. All these have put the engineering industry on a new growth trajectory. It is against such a background that 'Intec 2006', the ninth edition of Intec, is being organised," K Balachandran, president, Codissia, said. |

| Some of the focus areas of the fair include bringing in quality products and providing interface for business association between national and global players, providing knowledge-sharing programme with focus on automated and cost-effective technologies and bringing in government organisations that have a big stake in the technology sector. |

| Buoyed by the overwhelming response to the fair, Codissia has increased the booking area to 7,573 sq metre from last year's 5,200 sq metre. More than 464 units are likely to put up their stalls at the fair with a visitor base of around two lakh, Balachandran added. |

| Engineering and automation units from 11 countries, including Japan, Taiwan, Germany, USand China would put up their stalls. |

| The Indo-China Chamber of Commerce has arranged for a seminar on the trade promotion and economic contacts with China to facilitate smoother trade between the two nations. |
