Mishra Presents Himself Before Cbi Court

Former Bihar Chief Minister Jagannath Mishra yesterday presented himself before the special CBI court even as the designated court rejected the anticipatory bail applications of former Union minister of state for rural development Chandradeo Prasad Verma and former state animal husbandry department (AHD) minister Bhola Ram Toofani in connection with their alleged involvement in the fodder scam.

Mishra, who moved a regular bail petition before the designated court, furnished two surety bonds of Rs 50,000 each. His bail application will come up for hearing on August 18.

The former Bihar Chief Minister presented himself before the special CBI court following issuance of summons to all the 55 accused, barring those who have either surrendered or arrested by the CBI.

On the other hand the designated court rejected the anticipatory bail applications of Toofani and Verma in separate cases relating to the fodder scam. While Toofanis regular bail petition was rejected.

Anticipatory bail applications of Chandradeo Prasad Verma, former union minister rejected in two cases of scam related cases.

Verma already moved the Supreme Court following the rejection of his anticipatory bail application by the High Court.

Meanwhile, three suppliers of the AHD who were taken into custody yesterday were presented before the Special CBI court and remanded judicial custody till August 6.

On the other hand the monitoring bench of the Patna High Court adjourned the hearing of the contempt petition till August 14. The BJP and the Samata Party had filed a contempt petition against the chief secretary, B P Verma, Director General of Police, S K Saxena and the district magistrate, Raj Bala Verma wilfully violating the affidavit filed before the court that the state government was fully geared up to maintain the law and order situation in the state after the possible arrest of Laloo.

Prasad Yadav. However, the chief justice of the Patna High court, B M Lal, had to intervene and issue directions for the .....(deployment) RAF on August 1 - the day RJD had given a call for Bihar Bandh.

Meanwhile the CBI was giving final touches to the questionnaire to be posed before Laloo Prasad Yadav once he was taken on remand for questioning. But yet to be finalised whether the CBI would question Yadav in Patna or in other part of the state. Speculations are also there that the CBI might prefer to take Yadav out of Bihar for questioning.
