Biju Janata Dal supremo Naveen Patnaik, who has been chief minister of Orissa for last nine years, owns total movable and immovable properties worth Rs 7.90 crore. He, however, is contesting the ensuing assembly election from Hinjili segment in Ganjam district with only Rs10,000 cash in hand.

While his bank balance, shown in the affidavit filed for the elections, is Rs 57,076, Patnaik has no bond or share in any company in his name.

Patnaik, a confirmed bachelor, possesses a gold chain, ring, pendant and a ruby and diamond button set, whose total value is estimated at Rs 1.50 lakh.

The chief minister has an Ambassador car of 1980 model in his late father Biju Patnaik’s name, whose worth is around Rs 20,000.

His other assets, which he mentions in his affidavit, include one fourth share in the estate of Biju Patnaik consisting of bank balance and dues from others amounting Rs 8.70 lakh.  He expected to inherit one third of one-fourth share of his mother Late Gyana Patnaik in the estate of Biju Patanik as per her ‘will’. The value of this inheritance is approximately Rs 2.90 lakh. The will is yet to be probated.

Similarly the chief minister might get one third share in the bank account of his mother amounting to about Rs 3 lakh. His mother passed away on February 17 last.

Among the immovable properties, the BJD chief claims, he has one fourth share in the estate of Biju Patnaik situated at 3 Ayurangazeb Road, New Delhi. The value of his share from this estate is around Rs 2.30 crore.

His mother by a deed of relinquishment made in 2006 had given up her right in the property at New Delhi. The chief minister expects to receive one-third share of his mother’s share in the property, which is valued at about Rs one crore. The mutation of the property is yet to be completed, Patnaik stated. Besides, the BJD chief has one third share in Anand Bhawan Building, located at Tulasipur, Cuttack in the name of his father. The value of his share of this building is about Rs 28 lakh. His mother had left her share in the property of Anand Bhawan to Naveen in her will, which is worth another Rs 14 lakh, Patnaik said. Naveen has also claims on one third share of the Naveen Niwas, the residence of Biju Patnaik where he presently stays in Bhubaneswar. The value of this share is about Rs 2.51 crore.  Besides, he has about 2 acres, six kanals and 7 marias of agricultural land at Tikiri Khera in Haryana’s Faridabad district. The value of the land is around Rs 1.50 crore.
