Panel formed for early completion of Info valley project

In a bid to expedite the completion of Info-valley project, the state IT (information technology) department has constituted a nine member inter- departmental high powered project monitoring committee.

The Info-Valley, the second IT park in the city, the development of which is on slow lane, is spread over 600 acres of land. It is developed by the Idco (Odisha Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation) on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar. IT major Infosys is the anchor tenant for the Info-valley where the company is allotted about 50 acres of land for its second campus.

The committee formed to monitor the progress of Info-valley project for early completion has the state IT secretary as the chairman while chairman and managing Director of Idco will be the co-chairman. The other members of the panel are secretary of works department, special secretary (H&UD department), representative from the energy department, project director of National Highways Authority of India (Bhubaneswar), Khurda collector, Infosys centre head (Bhubaneswar). Additional secretary of the IT department is the member convenor.

"The committee shall meet at least once in a quarter to monitor the progress of Info-valley project and to find out bottlenecks if any and take required actions for early completions of the project", read an IT department notification.

Unable to provide permanent power connectivity and water supply, the state government has decided to provide the required amenities through interim arrangements to the anchor tenant which is likely to commence operation from April this year.

The four lane approach road to the Info park, as decided, will be completed by March next year.

The development of this complex is significant as the state's new ICT policy aims to achieve a turnover (including exports of software and IT services and Electronic System Design Manufacturing, domestic consumption and training) of four billion dollar by 2020.

Besides, the state government is also making efforts to provide a conducive atmosphere for the ESDM companies in the proposed IT park to attract the hardware manufacturers to the state for which it has already prepared a road map.

Idco has recently submitted a detailed project report (DPR) to the Centre for setting up of an Electronics Manufacturing Cluster (EMC) over an area of about 216 acres within the Info valley.
