Rs 797 crore World Bank loan for TN

The Tamil Nadu government on Tuesday signed an agreement with the World Bank for additional financial support worth Rs 797.45 crore for projects of the state's health and highways departments.
According to a government release, the phase I of Tamil Nadu Welfare Scheme was over in March, and the state government had written to the Union government and World Bank to extend the support for three more years.
The Bank has now approved Rs 564.78 crore for the health department programmes and Rs 232.67 crore for highways.
The proposed funding will support maternity and children welfare scheme, procurement of vehicles for 108 ambulance service and mortuary vans.
