Tamil Nadu allots land to Bavina Car's Rs 300-cr facility

The Tamil Nadu government has alloted land to electric car manufacturer Bavina Cars India for setting up a facility, entailing an investment of Rs 300 crore, at the Ranipet special economic zone (SEZ) near here.

According to an official press release, the state government has alloted 100 acres of land for the unit to be set up at the State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu's SEZ at Ranipet.

The company would invest Rs 300 crore in this project, promising direct and indirect employment to about 1,500 persons.

The company has been permitted to produce 25,000 cars annually and commercial production of the five-seater vehicle was scheduled to commence from 2011, the release said.

Company promoter S Rajasekar today received the order from Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister M K Stalin, who also test drove a prototype of the vehicle, the release said.
