Justice Girdhar Malviya, a grandson of noted freedom fighter Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya, said Monday that he has agreed to become one of the proposers of Narendra Modi's candidature from Varanasi, as he believes the latter has the potential to take India forward.

"I was asked if I could become his (Modi) proposer and I immediately accepted it. Definitely, I think Modi has the potential to take India forward, and take all sections of people along with him. I am hopeful that keeping all the traditions of India intact, Modi will take the nation forward," Malviya said.

Modi will file his nomination from Varanasi on April 24.
