IMD's start up competition

International Institute of Management Development (IMD) Switzerland, has chosen 22 start-up companies to work with its MBA and Executive MBA programmes in 2007.
 
These companies are the winners of the 9th annual IMD Start-Up Competition 2007. The IMD Start-Up competition provides an opportunity for early-stage companies to benefit from the support and insights of a team of experienced participants from two of IMD's flagship programmes, the MBA and the Executive MBA.
 
The objectives of the collaboration between entrepreneurs and managers/participants are to provide hands-on learning experience in entrepreneurship and new ventures for the IMD MBA and EMBA classes and also provide input and support to early stage companies, to improve their chances of funding and success.
 
Online exams for Manipal University
 
The Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), now known as Manipal University, will introduce online entrance tests for admissions to its undergraduate professional courses from this academic year.
 
The University has been conducting online exams for its post graduate courses since last year. The exams will be conducted in 19 cities and 23 centres. It will be spread over 38 days between March and June months. The exam will be held in three sittings of two and a half hour each.
 
"We are expecting around 90,000-100,000 students to appear for the exam. By conducting the exams in 38 days slot, we aim to attract the best of brains," said HS Ballal, vice chancellor, Manipal University. Web camera and other security measures would be ensured this time too.
 
Last year the university conducted online exams for admissions to PG medical and dental courses and this year the will be conducted for admission to courses such as MBBS, BDS, BE, BPharm, BSc Nursing, BHM and BA in Journalism.
 
DU and JNU sign MoU with POSCO
 
POSCO-India, the Indian subsidiary of the third largest steel manufacturer in the world has a signed an agreement with Delhi University (DU) and Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) to award scholarships to 20 students from DU and 10 students from JNU respectively.
 
The students will receive an annual grant of $ 500 (Rs 22,500).
