Amid pick up in domestic demand and a firm global trend, copper prices traded higher by 0.13 per cent to Rs 417.40 per kg in futures trade today.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, the November contract edged up by 55 paise, or 0.13 per cent to Rs 417.40 per kg in business turnover of 24,304 lots.
The contract traded higher by the same margin at Rs 424 per kg in 1,807 lots.
Market analysts attributed the rise in copper futures to firm global trend following better-than-expected data from China and the US signalled improving demand in the world's biggest metals users.
Meanwhile, copper for delivery in three months gained 0.9% to $7,698.50 a metric tonne on the London Metal Exchange.
