Good second-quarter numbers charge up Exide

Exide Industries surged 5 per cent to close at Rs 53.45 on Thursday after it announced its second quarter numbers for 2008-09. The company’s net sales rose by 34.9 per cent year-on-year (y-o-y) to Rs 900.83 crore, while its net profit increased by 25 per cent y-o-y to Rs 77.84 crore in the quarter under review.
The stock hit an intraday high of Rs 54.25 and a new 52-week low of Rs 47.60. A total of 286,385 shares changed hands on BSE on Thursday against a two-week average of 354,830 shares. The stock touched a 52-week high of Rs 90.90 on January 14.
