Potato sowing in Karnataka may be affected due to inadequate rainfall in the past few days, traders in Kolkata said on Wednesday.

Sowing in Karnataka, the only state where the crop is grown in summer, takes place during May-June, they said.

"Farmers in Karnataka are yet to begin sowing as there is little moisture left in the soil after a long spell of dry weather," said Gurupodo Saha, member, West Bengal Cold Storage Association.
