Sensex steady; ITC, RCom, Cipla gain 4%

The NSE Nifty is up 74 points at 4,234.

Tata Steel, BHEL and Wipro have surged over 4.5% each to Rs 626, Rs 1,574 and Rs 389, respectively.

Cipla, ITC and Reliance Communications have rallied over 4% each to Rs 236, Rs 187 and Rs 465, respectively.

Hindalco has gained 3.5% at Rs 148. Reliance Infrastructure has moved up over 3% to Rs 888.

ACC has advanced 2.5% to Rs 556. Hindustan Unilever and Grasim are up over 2% each at Rs 233 and Rs 1,765, respectively.

SBI and TCS are up 1.8% each at Rs 1,372 and Rs 827, respectively.

Maruti has plunged 9.5% to Rs 587. Tata Motors has tumbled 3.5% to Rs 405, and Jaiprakash Associates has shed 3.3% at Rs 161.

DLF and Bharti Airtel have dropped 2.5% each to Rs 452 and Rs 778, respectively. Ambuja Cements is down 1.4% at Rs 80.

Out of 2,557 stocks traded, 1,729 have advanced, 749 have declined and 79 are unchanged.
