TVS revs up on record sales

TVS Motor closed at Rs 94.85 on the BSE, a jump of 6.75 per cent on the backdrop of robust sales figures announced by the company. TVS Motor Company's October 2005 two-wheeler sales amounted to a new high of 137,883 units compared to 117,696 units, during the same period last year, recording a growth of 17 per cent.

The record sales were buoyed by motorcycles and scooters segment. The motorcycle segment recorded the highest sales of 85463 units compared to 74,683 units in the corresponding period last year recording a growth of 14 per cent.

Scooter sales stood at 25,373 units in October 2005, recording a growth of 19 per cent. On the export front, TVS recorded 6,016 units in October 2005, a growth of 63 per cent compared to the same period last year.
