A 12-year-old, first grader Egyptian boy precociously expressed his take on the country's current state of politics and corruption during a street interview in Cairo.
Ali Ahmed, a revolutionary in the making, said that Egypt didn't get rid of a military regime to replace it with a fascist theocracy and slammed the abuse of the country's constitution, New York Daily reports.
According to the report, Ahmed criticized the corruption in the country with incidents of police jailing citizens without any crimes committed, mosques allegedly swaying voters with bribes like sugar and cooking oil, and the women being treated as only half of society.
On the status of women in Egypt, Ahmed questioned the presence of only seven women in the constitutional assembly, six of whom were Islamist and said that despite claiming women were equal, except in matters that contradict Islamic law, the women were treated differently.
He further slammed the notion of 'discipline' in the context of women, and said that he can't beat his wife, almost kill her and then say it is discipline adding that it is not discipline but is abuse and insanity.
The report said that Ahmed attributed his knowledge about terms like 'fascist theocracy' to listening a lot to people, reading newspapers, watching TV and searching the internet.
While some skeptics of the video argue it being potentially staged or having a misleading translation, an Arabic-speaking viewer defended Ahmed and said that the translation is accurate.
Viewers have called him next in line for the Egyptian presidency when he gets older while a few said that he's ready now.
