Director General of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) OP Singh today said that over 17 teams are being rushed to Jammu and Kashmir, adding that five teams will be reaching the state by tonight.

"The top priority is to save lives. The NDRF has saved over 3931 people till now and 13 dead bodies have been recovered. Over 17 teams are being rushed to Jammu and Kashmir. In fact, five teams will reach the state by tonight," said Singh.

He further said that the NDRF is facing issues related to communication and navigation in the state.

"Communication and navigation are the major problems that we are facing as of now. Even then NDRF teams are working to save people," he added.

Earlier today, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh instructed the NDRF to send five more squads immediately to the flood-affected areas, after reviewing the situation in Jammu and Kashmir.

The Home Minister has also directed his ministry to dispatch around 70 boats to Jammu and Kashmir by today for the rescue operations.

Control Rooms have been set up at Srinagar, Jammu and New Delhi to actively monitor and coordinate the rescue and relief operations in the state.

Rajnath has also appealed to all social organisations and NGOs to mobilise their resources to the flood-affected areas of Jammu and Kashmir.
