It is well-known Facebook uses a mix of technology and human reviewers to sift out abusive content from its platform. In its blog, the company shared its progress in using new technology to fight child exploitation.

The company said that it used photo-matching technology, artificial intelligence, and machine learning to detect child nudity and child exploitative content. In addition to that, the company's Community Standards ban child exploitation to avoid even the potential for abuse.

This comprehensive approach has helped Facebook remove 8.7 million pieces of content in the last quarter alone. 99 percent of the abusive content was removed before users reported it.
