Former England captain Alec Stewart has said that the England and Wales Cricket Board should hang their 'heads in shame' over the treatment of Peter Moores.

Moores was sacked as England coach on Saturday after Andrew Strauss was appointed director of England Cricket.

But the news was leaked on Friday after England's rain-hit match against Ireland at Malahide in Dublin.

The former wicketkeeper-batsman noted that the leak of the information was not right as it came a day before an official announcement was made. He urged the ECB to show some respect to their employees, the BBC reported.

Meanwhile, England's assistant coach Paul Farbrace will take charge for the team's two-Test series against New Zealand starting at Lord's on May 21.
