The Andhra Pradesh High Court on Thursday set aside the appointment of four Commissioners of the State Information Commission.

A Divisional Bench comprising Chief Justice Kalyan Jyothisen Gupta and Justice KC Bhan also directed the state government to make fresh appointments within six weeks as per Right to Information Act (RTI).

The court order came on a petition contending that these four Commissioners are in active politics.

The state government had appointed V Venkateswarlu, Imtiyaz Ahmed, Vijaya Nirmala and Tantya Kumari as Commissioners in January 2012.
