Arsenal are reportedly set to renew their interest for Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema following the Champions League final after speculations hit that the French International could be allowed to leave Carlo Ancelotti's squad this off-season.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has reportedly failed with several previous attempts to purchase Benzema, but the manager would still regard the striker as an ideal signing should he become available.
According to the Sydney Morning Herald, Benzema has an year left on his contract at Real, and it would be for the Champions League finalists to decide whether they renew their striker's deal or sell him in the transfer window, which would fetch them a transfer amount of 30 million-pounds.
Arsenal had asked about Benzema when they signed Real's midfielder Mesut Ozil in August last year, but the club had already sold Gonzalo Higuain and their striker was not keen to move, the report added.
Meanwhile, Wenger is also pursuing other striker options, including Bayern Munich's Mario Mandzukic, but has made little attempt to stop two other players he has scouted regularly Diego Costa and Josip Drmic from respective moves to Chelsea and Bayer Leverkusen, the report further added.
