BJP demands Mamata's resignation over Saradha Chit Fund scam

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Siddharth Nath Singh said here on Thursday that the party has decided to start a Saradha Chit Fund scam 'andolan' demanding West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's resignation.

"The state unit has decided under the leadership of state secretary that from tomorrow, all BJP workers will demonstrate in front of every police station of the state. We are starting a Saradha Cit Fund scam 'andolan' and will give a memorandum to West Bengal Governor, and at every police station, we will demand Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's resignation," said Singh.

Earlier today, the TMC's women's wing staged a protest outside the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) office in Kolkata against their party leaders being quizzed in connection with the multi-crore Saradha chit-fund scam.

According to reports, the CBI has registered a total of 48 cases in the Saradha chit fund scam bringing under its lens regulatory body like the Securities Exchange Board of India (SEBI) and the Ministry of Corporate Affairs.

Trinamool Congress leader and Rajya Sabha member Kunal Ghosh have been named in one of the FIRs along with Sudipta Sen, chairman of the Saradha Group.

There are four FIRs against Saradha Group in which it is alleged that thousands of investors were allegedly duped by the company officials and their associates who swindled their deposits.

The Supreme Court had in May directed the CBI to probe the Saradha scam.
