Expressing serious concern over dead bodies being found in the River Ganges, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday asked the Akhilesh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party (SP) Government in Uttar Pradesh to look into this issue.
"It's a matter of great concern. The state government has to tell as to how the bodies made their way to the river Ganga," said BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra.
Another BJP leader Laxmikant Bajpai on his part condemned the administration's careless attitude towards this incident.
"I went at the site of the event in the morning. I don't want to create any controversy on the bodies. There are around 100 dead bodies, want to condemn administration's careless attitude towards this incident," he said.
According to reports, over 100 unclaimed and rotten bodies were found floating in a canal in Unnao, around 60 km from Uttar Pradesh's capital Lucknow.
