BJP questions AAP over alleged ad contracts allotment to Sisodia kin

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday criticised the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Government in Delhi for allotting contracts for government advertisements to relatives of Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia.

"True colours of the AAP have come out within seven months. Somnath Bharti's case of women harassment and the onion price scam, then the forgery case against Jitendra Tomar, and now, this latest case has come up. It shows that government is involved in corruption," Delhi BJP president Satish Upadhyay told ANI.

"There were speculations for allotting 526 crores for advertisement earlier also," he added.

Upadhyay also said there have been governments in the past also, but the advertisement budget was limited to Rs. 23 crores.

"They amount was itself very large, and there must be some system through which the money was siphoned off," he added.

Upadhyay further said police was investigating the matter, and added that when the investigation is completed, the truth shall be revealed.

The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) claimed today that Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia's relatives were given contracts for government advertisements.

ACB Joint Commissioner of Police Mukesh Kumar Meena levelled these charges and said that a probe has been initiated. He added that a notice has been issued to the Directorate of Information and Publicity (DIP), Delhi, in this regard.

AAP's decision to spend Rs 526 crores on information and publicity in the current financial year drew criticism from the opposition parties which alleged that the AAP was spending public money on "self publicity", amounting to corruption.
