Despite the Congress managing to grab majority of votes during the floor test in Uttarakhand, the Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday said ousted chief minister Harish Rawat will not get away with the corruption charges levelled against him.

"We are rest assured that the BJP-led opposition in Uttarakhand, which had started a movement four years ago against the corruption and the ill practices of the Congress government, has been successful. It has been proved through the stings of Harish Rawat and later on his own minister Madan Singh exposed that they have given money to their MLAs," Uttarakhand BJP president Ajay Bhatt told ANI.

"No matter how much Rawat blames the Centre, one thing is sure he has been exposed before the nation. He cannot get away with the allegations of corruption," he added.

Bhatt also said that he would like to request the CBI to enquire about each and every MLA who went to the floor test after horse-trading.

"Whatever happened in the floor test is a different thing but one thing is sure that this government has been exposed on the front of corruption," he said.

Congress leader Indira Hridayesh told ANI about the details of what happened during the floor test and asserted of a positive outcome for the party.

"We reached early and took out seats. We had been instructed earlier that those who vote in favour will sit on the right and those against on the left. After being seated the Speaker read the entire procedure and then began calling out names of the candidates who raised their hands indicating their motion. 33 of our candidates cast their votes in the motion," she said.

Adding that the result of the floor test was a clear message to the nation and political parties, she asserted that the BJP could not have been given a more smashing reply as they had openly indulged in murdering democracy and putting the development of Uttarakhand on a standstill.

The proceedings of the floor test were video-graphed and the results of the voting will be placed before the Supreme Court tomorrow in a sealed cover.
