BJP threatens to stall Assembly session in Bihar condemning blasts at Mahabodhi temple

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday threatened to stall assembly session in Bihar, condemning the series of explosions in and around the Mahabodhi temple complex.

Party workers and legislators gathered outside the Legislative assembly in Patna holding placards asking the Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to answer as to why there were terror attacks on the world famous Buddhist temple in Bodh Gaya inspite of a warning issued by the Centre.

The Mahabodhi Temple complex located in Bodh Gaya, the place where the Buddha is believed to have attained enlightenment, was rocked by a series of explosions in which two persons were injured on July 07.

BJP leader Janardan Singh Sigriwal, lashed at the Bihar government for not paying heed to the warnings issued by the Central Government and giving charge of the security to a private agency.

"They gave the charge of security of Mahabodhi temple to a private agency. Such a big internationally acclaimed world heritage site was given to be manned by a private security agency. The terror attack is the result of the lackadaisical attitude of the state government. BJP condemns this and we will oppose this inside as well as outside and we will also not let the Legislative assembly function today," he told media here today.

"We have also brought a proposal for adjournment motion in the house today on the same issue," he added.

Earlier on July 29, BJP legislators created huge uproar inside and outside the assembly as they took to the streets and protested against the incumbent government of Bihar over the issue of contaminated mid-day school meal and raised questions over the law and order provided by them.

The explosions at the Mahabodhi Temple complex was descried as a 'terror' attack by the Centre.

UNESCO had recognized the Mahabodhi temple as a world heritage site in 2002.
