Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Sushma Swaraj on Sunday asserted that the party would win more than 272 seats in the upcoming 2014 election, adding that the Congress Party would be defeated again similar to the recent Assembly elections.
"In the recent Assembly elections, Congress was not just defeated but was completely destroyed. We will win more than 272 seats in 2014 Lok Sabha polls," she said while addressing the BJP National Council Meet here today.
She also mocked the UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi for not announcing their prime ministerial candidate.
"Congress president said it is their tradition not to announce PM candidate. What party is this where the workers or the leaders are unaware of the tradition? Congress is simply running away from announcing its PM candidate," she said.
She also attacked Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi, for crediting his party in passing the Food Security Bill, and for blaming the saffron outfit for creating disruptions in the working of the Parliament.
"Truth is that we sat together till 10pm, cooperated and passed the Food Security Bill," she said.
"Rahulji alleged that we (BJP) don't let Parliament run. I want to ask him have he ever attended Lok Sabha sessions? Why is he spreading rumours?" she questioned.
Earlier on Friday, Rahul Gandhi at the All India Congress Committee (AICC) meet, hit out at the BJP, and said that Congress does not play politics by turning people against one and, by lighting the fire of communal violence, and that it believes in unity. e further said that the party taken a lot of steps to ensure power to the people and that the Right to Information Act (RTI) was one of them.
