Bradley Manning, the American soldier convicted of leaking classified documents to WikiLeaks, has said he now regrets his actions and that he was 'sorry that they hurt the United States'.
Manning apologized for his actions at his sentencing hearing in the WikiLeaks case, and pleaded with a military judge for a chance to go to college and become a productive citizen.
He said that at the time of his decisions, he was dealing with a lot of issues, issues that are ongoing and were continuing to affect him.
According to Fox News, he also apologized for the unintended consequences of his actions, adding that when he made these decisions he believed he was going to help people, not hurt them.
Manning added that he hoped he would be given a fair chance to prove, not through words, but through conduct, that he is a good person and that he can return to a productive place in society, the report added.
