UK chefs are all set to host a festival in Calcutta to give locals a chance to sample the curries made by them.
More than 70 dishes, such as a Sunday roast curry and shepherd's manpasand pie, created by Brit chefs, will be on show at the 'Best Of British Curry Festival', the Daily Star reported.
Chef Dominic Chapman told the publication that it might sound a little odd taking curry to its birthplace.
He said that the festival has had an enthusiastic reception in the past from countries as far afield as America, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Spain, the United Arab Emirates and Eastern-Europe.
Chapman admitted to the publication that he was inspired to launch the project by Indian-born British entrepreneur Karan Bilimoria, 51, who famously created Cobra beer as a lager to go with food.
The 10-day festival also has the blessing of Prime Minister David Cameron, who was quoted in the Indian media as saying curry "has become part of the British way of life".
In an interview during a visit to India this year, Mr Cameron, 46, said he was "very proud that we've got some curries here in Britain that we're exporting back to India".
