Muslims in the UK, who speak out against extremism, are reportedly being warned of a possible attack by Somalia's terrorist group al-Shabaab.
British Muslim commentator Mohammed Ansar said that he was currently under police protection because of what he was told was a 'credible threat'.
According to the BBC, the warning comes amidst a video posted by al-Shabaab militants which named Muslims who have criticized jihadists, while the hour-long film narrated by an unidentified man with a British accent praises acts of Islamist terrorism.
The imam and broadcaster Ajmal Masroor also revealed that he was visited by two detectives after he was named in the al-Shabaab film.
However, Masroor said that he would not be silenced and would continue to speak out against terrorism and extremism, even when the police has warned him of having credible evidence of a potential threat against him.
Another Muslim critic of terrorism, Mohammed Shafiq posted on social media that he was also warned by the police and told of the threats made against him.
The Islamist militant group claimed responsibility for the gruesome Kenya mall attack that left at least 67 people dead and is fighting to create an Islamic state in Somalia, the report added.
