The local police here have made a total seizure of cash and sarees worth Rs 25 lakh during ongoing checkings in view of the ensuing Lok Sabha and Assembly polls in the state.
At Kottapalli check post, the police found one person named Vasant Kumar carrying Rs 16 lakh cash on Wednesday.
He was travelling in an RTC bus from Kadapa to Prodduturu and could not produce any evidence or documents in support of the money he was carrying. Police seized the cash and handed it over to the Income Tax Department
Police also recovered Rs 4.5 lakh unaccounted cash being carried in a car at Chapadu check post near Viswanathapuram village.
At Kottapeta check post, police seized sarees worth Rs 5 lakh. These sarees were being transported without bills.
