Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Thursday said former finance minister P. Chidambaram had made economy of India bankrupt.

Pradhan's comment came after Chidambaram on Thursday rebuffed the Union Budget 2018-2019, saying that it was the 'worst budget'.

Talking to ANI, Pradhan said, "Chidambaram had made economy of country bankrupt. Banks were in bad state and had handed over the resources to the rich. That is why people gave answer to Chidambaram in 2014."

The Union Minister lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi by saying that he is giving transparent and policy-based administration.

In a statement, Chidambaram listed out certain sectors, including exports, agriculture, healthcare, jobs, investment and tax relief, and recounted the failures of the government to bring improvement in all of them.
