Chinese State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense has said that Beijing held its first comprehensive nuclear security emergency drill to test and improve its security-incident response mechanism.
The drill code-named "Fengbao-2016" was conducted yesterday.
The administration said the drill was neither scripted nor had a preplanned result to test the effectiveness of the nuclear security system.
It also said that the drill was presided over by Wang Yiren, vice director of the State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense, and vice-chairman of the China Atomic Energy Authority and representatives from central government agencies, local governments and China National Nuclear Corp observed the drill.
