A former captain of the German national football team has insisted that he is still 'very much alive' after he was labelled 'very much deceased' by court officials.
Lothar Matthaus, who captained Germany to World Cup success in Italy in 1990, was left shocked and indignant after a letter sent to him concerning an alimony claim from his former wife was returned to the court, unopened, with the word 'deceased' stamped on it.
According to Metro.co.uk, Matthaus termed his premature death notice as 'outrageous' and said that he can be found everywhere, adding that anyone can see that he is alive, whether on television or the football field.
Matthaus further said that the reason the letter was returned unopened because he had moved from that address to Budapest nine years ago.
Matthaus, who was one of Germany's biggest stars during his playing days in the 1980s and 90s, also lamented that the German league Bundesliga ignores him and he cannot find a job in his own country.
