The Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) administration on Thursday filed an affidavit before the Delhi High Court urging students to follow a notification issued by the University grants Commission which states that a professor can only guide eight scholars pursing M. Phil and P.h.D courses.

Representing, JNU administration, advocate Monika Arora submitted an affidavit that said 43 central, state and deemed universities are following the UGC notification and there was no reason for JNU not to.

The Democratic student's Federation of India had challenged the UGC notification in count.

The next hearing of the matter will take place on March 7.
