World number one Novak Djokovic displayed a rich vein of form as he swept aside tennis showman Radek Stepanek to race into the quarter-finals of the Rogers Cup in Toronto on Friday.
The Serbian claimed a comfortable 6-2, 6-4 victory over Czech Republic's Stepanek in the third round contest that lasted for almost an hour and a half.
Describing Radek as an 'entertainer', Djokovic revealed it was not easy to play against him while insisting that the entire tennis fraternity is grateful to Czech for staying in the sport for so long.
The 29-year-old revealed that his strategy was to focus on each point and not allowing Radek to go up a break again, Sport24 reported
Djokovic has now set up a clash against Czech fifth seed Tomas Berdych for a place in the semi-finals.
In the other men's singles clash, second seed Stan Wawrinka recorded his best career result at the event with a stunning 7-6 (7-3), 6-2 win over American Jack Sock.
It was the first time in five years that Wawrinka had reached the last eight in Canada. He knocked out in the opening match a year ago to Australia's Nick Kyrgios and reached till the third round in 2014.
