Du Plessis fears 'powerhouse' Oz will be 'dangerous' opponents in World T20

South African Twenty20 captain Faf du Plessis has admitted that Australia will be a formidable opponent in the World T20 boosted by their strong batting line-up.

Australia cruised to a six-wicket win over South Africa at Centurion Park on Friday on the eve of the departure of both teams for the world event, winning the three-match T20 series 2-0 to follow a 3-0 clean sweep against England earlier this year.

According to Sport24, Du Plessis said that Australia has a 'powerhouse' batting attack and believes that every one of their top seven or eight batsman can take the game away from their rivals.

Stating that this quality makes Australia dangerous rivals, Du Plessis also said that Australia also have got good quality fast bowling, adding that the team has a very good chance of getting to the semi-finals at Bangladesh.

Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc, Man of the Match on Friday, said their Twenty20 squad had made the most of their two weeks in South Africa, despite rain washing out one match and reducing another to seven overs a side.

However, Starc admitted that going to Bangladesh was a step into the unknown as he and a few other players in the team have never played there, although he added that their warm-up game against New Zealand would give them a good idea of what they can expect in the tournament.

Australia's first match of the tournament is against Pakistan in Mirpur on March 23, the report added.
