The Election Commission of India (ECI) has ordered the transfer of Bihar Home Secretary Amir Subhani, nine district magistrates and seven police officials, including that of a senior superintendent of police ahead of assembly polls in the state.
In its order, the ECI said that those transferred from districts should not be posted to any election-related post.
It has also appointed Sudhir Kumar Rakesh, an IAS officer of the 1983 batch, as state's new home secretary.
As Subhani was also the Secretary for the General Administration Department, the ECI said the state government could post any other secretary-rank officer to this post.
The order said Subhani could be given any other assignment by the state government.
The ECI has sought a compliance report from the chief secretary within 24 hours along with copies of transfer orders.
