England football legend Bryan Robson has said that Rooney could earn back the respect of fans in the new season, even as the striker becomes worried about fan reactions before the start of the season.
According to the Mirror, the English star is understood to be concerned about a backlash from supporters because Sir Alex Ferguson claimed he asked to leave at the end of last season.
However, Rooney has been told he can win over his Manchester United critics if he stays at Old Trafford, the report added.
Robson said that if the English striker started the season well and scored a few goals, with everyone enjoying his football, fans would be able to forgive him.
