Swiss star Roger Federer is reportedly planning to 'tap' into his coach Stefan Edberg's 'deep well of experience' to try out something new during his upcoming quarter-final clash with British champion Andy Murray.

The 17-time Grand Slam champion cruised into the last eight at the Australian Open with a consummate straight-sets victory over Jo-Wilfried Tsonga on Monday in one hour and 52 minutes in an evening match on Rod Laver Arena.

According to Sport24, Federer, who has now reached his 11th consecutive quarter-final in Melbourne and equalled the record of 41 Slam quarters with American Jimmy Connors, said that he would draw on his Swedish coach's knowledge to devise tactics for the match with the Wimbledon champion.

Stating that he wants to try out a different perspective, Federer, who would be working with Edberg for ten weeks, also said that he wants to try out a few things that worked for Edberg when he was a Grand-Slam winning player, and use them to attain success as he does not go unprepared into matches like he used to.
