The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, part of the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), on Sunday announced that Ramadan will begin from Tuesday (May 7).

Chairman of the Committee, Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman announced the decision of the central committee after gathering the evidence from across the country, Dunya News reported.

The Zonal and District Ruet-e-Hilal committees also held meetings for collecting evidence in respect of sighting of the moon.

Earlier, the PMD had predicted the possibility of Ramadan moon sighting on Monday evening (May 6) and said the holy month is expected to commence from May 7.

Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia and other countries in the Middle East will be able to see the moon on May 5 and observe the first fast of the holy month on May 6.
