The Fortis Charitable Foundation will be sending a team of 70 doctors along with paramedics, nurses, support staff and basic necessities to earthquake-hit Nepal to help the administration deal with the crisis.
The team will be led by Fortis Chief Operating Officer Ashish Bhatia and Medical Program Director Dr. Atamjot Grewal.
The Fortis team will take with them emergency medical supplies, including antibiotics, anti-infective and general medicines along with the support for orthopaedic and general trauma injuries to take care
of first line surgical stabilization.
Executive Vice President of Fortis Foundation Jasbir Grewal described the Nepal earthquake as a 'horrific tragedy' and said that it is a humanitarian duty to rise up to serve our fellow brothers and sisters with compassion and care.
"In this hour of crisis and anguish, our heart goes out to those affected by this horrific tragedy. Fortis Foundation will help the afflicted in whatever way we can do to provide the much needed relief," he said.
"Our team of medical professionals will be onsite to provide medical assistance to anyone in need. We hope that our sincere efforts will contribute in making a humbling difference to the affected people. We are working in association with the administration to provide the best possible assistance," he added.
Fortis Foundation through Fortis Healthcare (Hospitals) will also send over a ton of emergency medicines, tents, tarpaulin sheets, packaged foods, and first aid boxes, basic hygiene kits like diapers, soap, dental kit, water bottles and towels in this project called 'Sewa', a disaster relief initiative.
