French Embassy, Apollo Hospitals and PHFI host workshop on climate change, women's health

The French Embassy in India has organized a workshop "Tackling climate change for healthier women" in collaboration with Apollo Hospitals and Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) at the Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals in Delhi.

The event was attended by French Ambassador Francois Richier.

Professor at the Institute of Economic Growth in Delhi and University of Manchester in United Kingdom Bina Agarwal moderated the discussions held at the event.

The panellists included PHFI epidemiologist Dr. Sutapa Agrawal, Senior Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Apollo Hospitals Dr. Lalita Badhwar, Executive Director of the Chintan Environmental Research and Action Group Dr. Bharati Chaturvedi and Dr. Vandana Shiva, Author and Founder, Navdanya.

Climate change not only has an impact on the ecosystem and the biodiversity but also on the habits and ways in which daily-life is organized both in rural and urban areas.

On the occasion of the International Women's Health Day, the debate aimed at understanding the implication of climate change consequences on the livelihood of women. It also highlighted the best practices and relevant experiences to reduce the exposure of women to climate change risks.
