Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday felicitated Central Vigilance Commissioner (CVC) K.V.Chowdary in Ramineni Foundation awards ceremony in Vijayawada.

Chowdary received 'Vishshista Puraskaram' at an awards ceremony, held as part of Ramineni Foundation's 18th anniversary celebrations.

While addressing the gathering, Naidu called for using technology efficiently for the development.

"There is responsibility on parents and the society to see that the younger generation is not misusing technology. Becoming slaves for technology will pose many problems to the society as people are already transitioning into the mechanical world. Despite of technological advancements, human relations must be protected," he said.

Naidu also said that earning money is not important, rather giving back to society is.

"Indian society has strong family system which cannot be ignored," he said.

"Highlighting the importance of environment, he said that everyone must love nature. He reminded that Andhra Pradesh has linked Godavari and Krishna rivers unveiling a new chapter for the country," he added.

Parrikar said he had travelled from one coast to another to realise the similarities in Andhra Pradesh and Goa. He said both states have produced talent for the country across sectors.

"Another similarity is the love for rice, fish curry and coconuts. Except some cultural and political differences, there are lots of similarities between two states," he said.

On the occasion, Chowdary called on the people to take cognisance of the constitutionally listed fundamental duties to be performed as citizens of the country.

"Everyone must take cognisance of our constitutionally listed fundamental duties to be performed as citizens of this country. We are fighting for fundamental rights even by going to the Supreme Court, but we are not talking about the Fundamental Duties," he said.

Chowdary also highlighted the importance of children taking care of their parents in their old age and appreciated the Ramineni Foundation for their efforts to uphold Indian culture and traditions.

Apart from this, Visesha Puraskaram awards were presented to Prof. Geeta K.Vemuganti, Dean - School of Medical Sciences, University of Hyderabad; Shri R. Narayana Murthy, popular Telugu cinema artist, director and producer; Padma Sri R. Nageswara Rao, popular Telugu Drama-theatre artist and director.

Dr. Ramineni Foundation was founded in 1995 by the Late Dr. Ramineni Ayyanna Chowdary in Cincinnati of Ohio State, USA with a vision that embodies the onus of protecting and promoting the monumental heritage of Indian Culture and ideals of Hinduism.
