Google-acquired Bump has reportedly announced that it is shutting down so that the team can focus on other projects inside Google.

Bump created the buzz for allowing smartphones to transfer data by tapping them together, a feature that became a signature feature in Samsung's Galaxy S3, competing the iPhone and pushing Apple to launch a similar feature.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Bump's CEO and co-founder David Lieb said that in September Bump team had joined Google but now they are deeply focused on their new projects within Google and they have decided to discontinue Bump and Flock.

The co-founder further noted that on January 31, 2014, Bump and Flock will be removed from the App Store and Google Play and all user data will be deleted after that day.

Users can export the data at any point in the next 30 days from Bump and Flock, including photos, videos, contacts, etc.
